Woman dies in pedestrian-car crash on I-64 The Intelligencer FacebookTwitterEmail ST. CLAIR COUNTY A woman from Tennessee died Saturday after being hit by a car on Interstate 64. According to Illinois State Police (ISP) District 11’s preliminary investigative details, Rena Wood, 55, from Hartsville in Tennessee, stopped her vehicle to the westbound inside shoulder near mile marker 11.5 and the Route 159 exit in St. Clair County. She exited the vehicle and entered the highway’s westbound lanes, where a black, 2013 Chevrolet Malibu struck and killed her at about 6:22 p.m. The driver, Angela Diser, 49, from Collinsville, and her passenger, Elaine Hendricks, 51, from Caseyville, were physically uninjured. Diser’s Malibu left the scene and was later located. The St. Clair County Coroner’s Office pronounced Wood dead at the scene and the interstate was closed for about four hours during the investigation. The ISP reports that the investigation continues.
